Mt. Kisokomagatake
The highest peak in the Central Japan Alps
Counted among “Japan’s 100 famous mountains”, this is the dominant peak of the Central Alps range. The 2,956-meter summit affords views of the Southern Alps and Mt. Ontake, as well as Mt. Fuji. Alpine plants and cloudscapes contribute to the astoundingly beautiful scenery. The rugged mountain landscape to the east of the Kiso Valley is also impressive, and the ‘climbing boom’ of recent years has seen visitor numbers on the rise.
